Some things done!

So, I let Alan know that I forgive him for everything that happen, and he had the nerve to blame me! He wanted to rehash the entire thing and get together to talk. No thank you! I have had enough and feel better about that.
I have also been accepted into a doctoral program and I'm planning on starting in November!
Yesterday I did something totally impulsive. I went up to meet Matthew on the Kentucky/Ohio line. I guess I was still in Kentucky, but I have visited one state of the 4. I was there for 5 hours and drove back early this morning to get home in time for work. Had a great time!

Something New for last week and this current week

I realized I haven't posted in awhile. The new thing that I did last week was go to the bar by myself. This week, 8/30, I went to church by myself. I have also seen things that I hope to never see again. My neighbor was murdered on Friday by her ex-boyfriend. While I was fortunate to have been at work when the murder and suicide took place, when I go home there was still physical evidence left.
Lauren was very nice woman, a mother. She always said hi to me and everyday, even Friday just 30 minutes before she was killed, told me to have a good day. We would walk our dogs together and talk about everyday things. She is going to be missed.

Number 3 is done!

Well I did it!! I had a beer at Irish Times by myself! Mike and Rocco were my witnesses. When I was leaving Mike told me he was proud of me. You know, I'm pretty proud of myself. I also bought a scale today to work on the weight loss. Not looking forward to stepping on it tomorrow morning, but it must be done! I am determined to have a positive attitude about that one.

Working on the list!

Well I'm sitting at Irish Times by myself and having a drink. In a little bit I'll be able to cross one thing off the list!

Day 3

I have thought of a couple of other tasks for my list. I need to finish the list and start tomorrow!
Additions:
14. Be able to drive downtown and figure out my way around without asking Carrie for help
15. Help a stranger
16. Spend quality time with my parents

Well, I'm spent! Hopefully I'll be able to come up with 4 more for tomorrow so I can start on the list!

Day 2

Today I thought of three more goals: finish remodeling/updating my condo, read at least 5 books from the BBC's The Big Read list that I have never read before, and visit and spend at least 3 hours (outside of the car) in 4 states. I guess that's 13. Now I only need 7 more. I want to start this list by the August 19th. That'll give me 5 months to complete everything.
Good news though, I talked to my mom and she said that she and my stepdad will take me camping. They have a 3 room tent. I guess that's a good thing.
Heres the list so far:
1. Lose 20 pounds
2. Finish a half and whole marathon
3. Have a drink at a bar by myself
4. Forgive Alan
5. Go camping
6. Stop using credit cards
7. Go to a wine tasting
8. Apply for, get accepted, and start (depending on the school's start date) a doctoral program
9. Host a dinner party
10. Create an album of my Europe pictures (all 12oo of them)
11. Finish remodeling/updating my condo
12. Read at least 5 books on the BBC's The Big Read that I have never read before
13. Visit and spend at least 3 hours (outside of a car) in at least 4 states.

More to come soon!

My idea (not so original, but giving it a shot)

So, I read The Next Thing on My List by Jill Smolinski and was inspired. I decided to create my own life list to complete by my 28th birthday, January 19, 2010. As of right now I have 5 months and 3 days. It'll be a tall order, but I am determined to do it! Right now, I have 10 things on my list. I have put out a plea to friends for help. I read that brainstorming with friends and family is a great way to come up with things, so I don't feel like I'm cheating. I'll ask my family tonight when I go to dinner at my mom's house.
I figured I should start this blog and tell as many people about it as possible to ensure that I follow through with it. I also decided that this is for me, so I am not going to fell ashamed or embarrassed by what is on here. This will not work if I am not completely honest.
So far on the list:
1. Lose 20 pounds
2. Finish a half and whole marathon
3. Have a drink at a bar by myself
4. Forgive Alan
5. Go camping
6. Stop using credit cards
7. Go to a wine tasting
8. Apply for, get accepted, and start (depending on the school's start date) a doctoral program
9. Host a dinner party
10. Create an album of my Europe pictures (all 12oo of them)
Well, that's the list so far. Hopefully, I'll have more to add soon. Then I get to decide which one to start with.
